All Marigolds possess the ability to suppress or kill nematodes, but this particular cultivar has been selectively bred (not to be confused with GMO's - we never use GMO's) for their particular ability to kill nematodes, naturally. A very effective, natural and arguably more effective than traditional toxic pesticides. 
 
The marigolds should be planted, allowed to live out their life cycle (they are an annual, so they live for one season and then should be tilled into the soil as they are still green but beginning to die off and tilled into the soil as a green manure. 
 
They are also effective at keeping other pests at bay, while they are growing, such as white fly and others while also attracting beneficial insects that feast on the bad bugs. These are a result of the naturally occurring substances, terpene and limonene that are produced by the plant that also give off that irresistible smell when brushed against.
