One of the first lettuces I ever grew was Lollo Rosso, I could not believe that a lettuce so beautiful existed and that it wasn’t mass produced and sold everywhere. It was truly hot pink to light pink and green at the base. I was famous for my holiday(I’m in Florida so lettuce must be grown in winter, although this lettuce can be grown in fall pretty much everywhere!) salads every year, between the lettuce and the watermelon radishes, it was the prettiest salad ever! 
 
I have been growing this year after year along with several other red and pink lettuces and they seem to get pinker with each crop! These are from my personal plants. 
 
This is the only lettuce I have ever grown or witnessed that was truly pink. It is a beautiful spring green at the base with hot pink nearly magenta tips.
 
For those looking to “eat the rainbow,” this is a fantastic addition to a well rounded colored fruit and vegetable diet. The leaves are deep pink to dark, curly and can be grown as a baby lettuce to snip and allow to regrow again and again or you can wait and harvest as full heads. 
 
Sow in a row a few inches apart for baby greens or 8 inches apart for full heads or you can do a little bit of both! 
 
Ideal temps are between 60-80 degrees. Sow in spring, summer or fall in cooler climates and fall, winter and spring in zones 9+. 
 
These sprout in only 7-10 days and you can get baby greens pretty quick.
