Cornus capitata (Evergreen Dogwood / Himalayan Strawberry Tree) is a rare ornamental that keeps its glossy green foliage year-round, then surprises with creamy white summer blooms and strawberry-like red fruits. The fruit is edible, with a sweet andsoft texture, and is a favorite for wildlife as well as curious gardeners. Unlike the classic flowering dogwood (Cornus florida), this species retains its glossy, dark-green leaves year-round, adding lush structure and texture to the landscape. in zones 8–10, this unique evergreen tree brings exotic beauty, edible interest, and four-season appeal to any mild-climate garden.

It grows 15–40 feet tall, making it a standout specimen.

The seeds require 90 days of cold to break dormancy. The seeds can be planted in fall or winter in zones 8A to 9A or cold stratified in your refrigerator by folding them into a moist paper towel and sealing in a ziploc bag and placing in your refrigerator for 90 days. Then sow as normal. I would recommend artificial stratification for zones 9B and 10.
