Cardiocrinum Giganteum, commonly known as the Giant Himalayan Lily or Himalayan Cardiocrinum, is a remarkable and impressive flowering plant native to the Himalayas
As the name suggests, it is known for its remarkable size. It's the largest known Crinum species in the world, with mature plants reaching heights of 6 to 10 feet or even taller.
The plant produces large, lance-shaped leaves that are bright green in color and can grow up to 1 to 2 feet in length.
The most striking feature of the Giant Himalayan Lily is its enormous, fragrant flowers. They typically appear in late spring to early summer and are pendulous, trumpet-shaped, and can grow up to 10 inches or more in length. That’s nearly a foot!! The flowers are white or creamy in color with burgundy or purple markings, making them visually stunning.
Cardiocrinum giganteum is native to the forested regions of the Himalayas, particularly in areas with moist, cool conditions at higher altitudes with partial to dappled shade. It thrives in forested slopes and meadows.
The plant is known for its use in traditional medicine in certain areas, where various parts of the plant are believed to have therapeutic properties.
