Echeveria is a genus of evergreen succulents native to Central and South America, particularly Mexico. Known for their rosette-forming leaves and striking colors, they are popular in container gardening, rock gardens and as house plants. The leaves are thick and fleshy and arranged in tight rosettes.

Please note that cross-pollination of Echeveria can lead to a fascinating mix of genetic traits, producing both positive and negative results in terms of coloration in the offspring. 
 
Cross-pollination can result in hybrids with stunning, unique color combinations that are more vibrant or unusual than those of the parent plants, including leaf variegation, edge accents, or gradient hues, creating new market-worthy cultivars. It can also lead to stronger, more resilient plants with better survival traits. On the other hand, the resulting plants may have less vibrant or muddy colors due to conflicting genetic inputs. Desired colors may be recessive and not appear in the first-generation plants.
 
Many hybrids fail to retain consistent coloring through subsequent generations, requiring selective breeding over multiple cycles.
 
Enthusiasts often embrace this uncertainty, hoping to cultivate a standout specimen while accepting that not all results will be visually striking. This blend of art and science makes Echeveria breeding both challenging and rewarding for succulent collectors and breeders. If you are looking for a very specific breed or coloration of Echeveria that already exists, cuttings or a live plant would be a better option. If you are looking for a surprise and potential new hybrid, seeds are a great option.
 
Please also note that all Echeveria species will exhibit more brilliant coloration when under stress, such as excessive heat, cold or light.
