Roma VF (VF stands for Verticillium wilt) means that it is an improved variety of Roma that is resistant to both this disease as well as other diseases. It is an heirloom that has replaced the original Roma and is the only Roma you have likely eaten as it is the choice Roma grown by farmers since the 1950's. Prior crops of Roma tomatoes were riddled by disease, making the original Roma's very difficult to grow. A natural resistance to disease makes these a breeze to grow without harmful pesticides. 
 
Originally bred in Italy, Roma tomatoes are prized for their rich flavor, which is less watery compared to other tomato varieties. They have a slightly tangy and sweet taste, making them versatile for use in various culinary dishes. Roma tomatoes are commonly used for making pasta sauces, soups, salsa, and tomato paste due to their high flesh-to-seed ratio and robust flavor.
 
Roma VF are determinate plants, which means they produce a concentrated crop over a shorter period, making them ideal for canning and preserving and are also easier to contain in a smaller tomato cage.
