Helianthus angustifolius, commonly known as "swamp sunflower," is a North American native perennial sunflower species. It is found in every part of Florida, as well as Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Carolinas.

This plant thrives in wetland habitats, including swamps, marshes, and wet meadows. It prefers moist to wet soils and is well-suited to areas with seasonal or permanent water.

Swamp sunflowers produce bright yellow, daisy-like flowers with a dark brown or purple center. The plants grow up to 6 feet tall with impressive displays of multiple flowers, with narrow, lance-shaped leaves.

They typically bloom in late summer to early fall, providing a burst of vibrant color to wetland areas.

Swamp sunflowers are an excellent choice for wetland restoration projects and can also be cultivated in garden settings that have consistently moist or wet soils. They attract pollinators like bees and butterflies and contribute to the biodiversity of these habitats.
