Gardens are such a joy to gaze upon during the day and white flowers are perfect for a midnight garden and this one is no exception. Delicate cool white petals with a stunning and striking blue center.
Another new attractor, they are always buzzing all over mine. Save the 🐝!
Cool-season color with a striking gaze. These African daisies open crisp white petals around a violet halo and deep blue center—electric in containers, borders, and cut posies. Plants stay tidy and floriferous in cool weather, flowering in spring and again as nights cool toward fall. In hot spells they rest, then bounce back the moment temperatures ease.
Botanical name: Osteospermum ecklonis
Habit: mounded, roughly 12–18" tall and wide; perfect for pots and front-of-bed edges
Hardiness: perennial in zones 9–11; grown as an annual elsewhere
Light & soil: full sun; well-drained soil (protect from soggy sites)
Bloom window: spring to early summer, then again in fall; deadhead to extend
From seed: start 6–8 weeks before last frost or direct sow after danger of frost. Sow 1/8" deep (just a light cover), keep evenly moist, and germinate around 65–72°F; sprouts usually appear in 10–20 days. Transplant or thin to about 12–18" apart. Feed lightly and avoid overwatering—osteos prefer bright sun and drainage.
Notes: seed-grown osteospermum naturally show small variation in eye color and halo intensity; expect a lovely range within this white/blue look. Pinch once when young for a fuller plant, and enjoy the way the blooms track the sun and close at night.
This is for 50 seeds.
