A native North American lupine with deep blue to violet spires, Lupinus perennis brings effortless color and structure to natural landscapes and pollinator gardens. Its tall, elegant flower spikes rise above silver-green foliage in late spring, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, especially the endangered Karner Blue butterfly, which depends on it as a host plant.
 
This species thrives in sandy or well-drained soil and full sun, returning each year from hardy perennial roots. Unlike many modern hybrids, Lupinus perennis has a graceful, natural look, compact, drought-tolerant, and perfectly suited to native meadow plantings, slopes, or wildflower borders.
